Here's the latest news on Workshare's plans to extend the new Collaboration, Co-authoring and Content Management features of Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint. Announced in May, Workshare’s solution provides a Microsoft-enabled front end, allowing legal professionals to manage their matter-related documents and email from within Microsoft Office and Outlook.
It has been tested with select customers over the past year and will be in full-production release by Q4, 2010. A customer beta program is now in full swing, if you'd like to participate please contact us.
Highlights from today's press release:
“SharePoint is definitely a strategic direction for us and after seeing the Workshare solution, we are very excited about the possibilities," said David Michel, CIO for Burr & Forman LLP. "It is the best legal SharePoint front-end that we have seen thus far.”
"As SharePoint 2010 gets more attention in the market, including legal, we are excited with the Workshare offering which will accelerate the adoption and provide legal professionals the functionality they are accustomed to," said Jim Veraldi , executive vice president of Micro Strategies.
“SharePoint is beginning to gain traction as a DMS in the Legal Vertical. For adoption to accelerate, ISVs are needed to fill the functional gaps between SharePoint out-of-the-box and existing DMS offerings, and to take advantage of SharePoint functionality that goes beyond those offerings,” said Marcus Bluestein, CTO, Kraft & Kennedy, Inc. “Workshare has a long history of understanding the needs of the legal community and is leveraging that experience in their new Workshare solution. We are excited to be working with Workshare on this offering.”
